Cherry FAQs
How long is the cherry harvest?
Harvest usually begins in mid-May with Coral Champagne cherries followed by Rainiers. Harvest will typically last 2-3 weeks.
How can we reserve cherries?
We have several buttons throughout the website that will direct you to reserve your cherries. You are also always welcome to call us and get on our reservation list! You pay when you pick up your cherries. We accept cash, check, or card.
How should we store our cherries?
Cherries you are eating that day can be left out at room temperature. Your freshly picked cherries should be stored in the refrigerator for 4-10 days or in the freezer for 10-12 months. To extend shelf life, do not wash until ready to eat.
How do I freeze my cherries?
To freeze: wash, stem, and pit cherries. Add 3/4 cup sugar to each quart of cherries and stir until sugar is dissolved. Place in an airtight container or heavy-duty freezer bag.
For best quality freeze for a maximum of 12 months. Cherries kept constantly at 0 degrees Fahrenheit will keep safe indefinitely.
Which cherries are best for baking?
Our Tart cherries are soft and the perfect cherry for baking. We grow these cherries for cross-pollination and we only have a limited supply to offer.
When and Where do we pick up the cherries?
During harvest, cherries can be picked up daily at Mellor Ranch. We also offer limited delivery to the following counties: Fresno and San Joaquin. Pick up and delivery times to be arranged. We accept cash, check, or card.
